Hola familia y amigos!!

This week was incredibly fast. We have focused our time on finding people to teach and it has been quite productive. There are lots of families here in which only half of the members of the family are members of the church. So we have been spending lots of time with them and helping them to understand the blessing of the gospel for their family. One of the young couples in the ward just had a new baby. They are working together to prepare to go to the temple so that their new family can be together for all of eternity. I love sharing this truth with these families. I know that families can be together for all eternity but I know that in order to obtain this blessing there is work to be done. First we must make and keep sacred covenants with the Lord. Through these covenants we promise to keep the commandments and always remember the sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ. Then in return our Heavenly Father promises us eternal life with our familias. Also, along with these covenants, families must be united. We cannot afford to let day to day life interrupt the relationship that we have with our family. I know that family prayer is a link stronger than anything. I know that blessings come through prayer and especially through prayer as a family. Prayer is a great act of faith and there are few things more beautiful than a family kneeling together in prayer, united in their thanks and humbly pleading to God for their needs. I know that our Father in Heaven hears our prayers and I know that He answers them. We can receive revelation for our lives through humble prayers. For me revelation and answers to my questions often come through prayer, scripture study and church attendance. Recently my companion and I have begun attending each church meeting with a question in mind. In fact we now refer to meetings as "moments to receive revelation", and it is so true. We have received lots of revelation and as we apply what we receive, we are blessed with even more direction. It truly is amazing!

the view from my new cuarto

we are in the centro centro centro de la ciudad de Chiclayo.. it is CROWDED.. like walking the streets of NYC  but without stoplights.. it is a lot of fun.. and there is lots of shopping here people come from all over Lambayeque to shop here so  most of our contacts live outside the area but it is still so wonderful to share with them.

HOLA!!

Wow! Esta semana pasó muy muy muy rápido. Tuvimos actividades cada día! Tuesday we had a noche de hogar con todo el barrio. Then Wednesday we did splits with members and visited families who haven´t come to church in a while. On Thursday we had a Show de Talentos. The four missionaries in the ward ( Hna. San Roman, Elder Segura, Elder Law, and I) did a short skit. It was quite hilarious!  Then on Friday we had an Open House and invited lots of people in with delicious Peruvian desserts. We had some great contacts from the activity and have begun teaching some of them. One lady is absolutely amazing; she has been searching for this and is so excited to have found the Gospel. Also, this week we finally met the father of one of the ward members. Since we arrived here, everyone has been warning us about this brother, his stubbornness, rudeness and pride. We were a little intimidated to meet him, but so grateful that we did. He is wonderful. He knows the Bible backward and forward, and he told us right out that he wants to get baptized. His fear is that he won´t be able to be perfect after his baptism. We are so excited to help him take the leap of faith, be baptized then make use of the guidance of the Holy Ghost, daily repentance, and the Sacrament ( to renew the baptismal covenant each week). I love sharing this message of hope with others. I know that when we make covenants with God, he will bless us more than we can imagine. Heavenly Father loves us and wants to bless us, we must act in faith. We must pray for, and give thanks for all of the blessing that we receive. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve the people here in Peru. Their love has touched my heart. I know that Heavenly Father loves all of his children and I am so blessed to feel a portion of that love as I serve as a Representative of Jesus Christ.

Hey Everyone!!

This week was cambios but I got super lucky and my compañera, Hermana San Román and I got to switch areas together. We are now serving in Chiclayo Central. It is most definitely the heart of the city. It is a busy busy place, with lots of shopping, lots of taxis, and lots of people to share the gospel with. We share the ward with two other Elders and the ward is so excited to have so many missionaries. We have received an abundance of references, dinner appointments, and members who volunteer to accompany us, it is WONDERFUL!! Also Hermana San Román and I get to live with our pensionista Hermana Yataco. Her family is lo máximo!!! Plus she makes delicious food!  Also, our room is fantastic because we can go up on the roof and do morning exercise as the sun rises over the steeples of the big Catholic church...it is quite awesome!!

Anyways, since this week we were opening up the new area we were starting from scratch, we went to visit all the leaders in the ward and sought out some people who haven´t been coming to church in a while. We have fallen in love with one family here. The three daughters were baptized a few years back, but have stopped coming recently. We visited them a couple times this week. Their Mom taught us how to cook Lomo Saltado and we had a great conversation about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the blessings that it offers to our families. I loved being with them and really assisting in bringing the Spirit back into their home.

Also this week as a companionship, Hermana San Román and I studied the importance of Church attendance and how we can receive revelation through attending Sacrament each week. It was great to study together and then share with members. We both went to church with questions in mind, and our questions were answered. It was great and we received some inspired guidance for how to help some of the people that we have begun to teach.

I know that the hour that we spend each week in Sacrament meeting, is the most important hour of our week. We must prepare for this throughout the whole week by repenting daily and making every effort to keep our covenants. Then as we renew our covenants on Sunday we will be able to remember the things we need to change and the people we need to serve. I love being a missionary because I get to share this with so many people every day. I know that covenants are essential to the plan of Salvation and we must remember and strive to always be faithful to the covenants that we have made with heavenly Father.

                                                Sister Missionary Preparation Day.
Hey Everyone!!

This week was wonderful!  I had another exchange to Monsafu, I love it there!!  However I also really love the people here in San Felipe. The members have really started to help us out with the work. We had some amazing lessons this week, and the best ones are always ones where a member is present to share their personal testimony. This week, two of our investigators accepted baptismal dates. We are so excited; we have already seen them progress so much as they apply the principles of the Gospel into their lives. It is truly an amazing process to witness. I am getting transferred somewhere new tomorrow so I unfortunately I won’t get to see the whole transformation. But I do know that this Gospel changes lives.  If we study the scriptures and apply those principles of daily repentance, faith, and prayer, we will see changes and progression in our lives. I know that God hears and answers our prayers. He loves us so much!

Also this week we got to see the broadcast of the dedication of the 100th stake here in Peru!  Elder Christofferson, an apostle of the Lord, spoke. He promised the people of Peru that if they are faithful to their covenants then the whole nation of Peru, not just the members of the church, but the ENTIRE nation of Peru will be blessed and will prosper.  Such a great promise for them. I know that the covenants we make with the Lord offer extraordinary blessing for our lives and our families. We must be true to the covenants we have made. They are part of every moment of our lives. We must always remember our Savior Jesus Christ.

I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to be a representative of Christ and share this joy and hope with the people of Peru.

Con Amor,
