Mercy

Well this week was great! Recently our area has expanded and so has our faith. We have met a lot of people this week and are doing our best to discern who is ready to put the Gospel into practice in their lives. Also, this week I was studying a bit about Mercy and Justice. I like when there are set rules and consequences, so I have always appreciated justice. But in these past weeks I have been so grateful for Mercy. I have realized in this area that even if I work as hard as I can and use up all of my personal efforts, I never can complete all that is required of me. However, I know that my Father in Heaven loves me, and he is Merciful. He blesses us so much, even when we least deserve it. We technically should have to obey without any recompense... yet He wants to bless us so much and he allows us to make covenants and receive the promised blessings. I am so grateful for the knowledge of God´s plan for us. After Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden... all of us from then on were born in an imperfect state. Our mistakes stain our souls and without a resurrected body we cannot return to the presence of God. However, Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins, and was resurrected, that is the Atonement. Through the Atonement we can be cleansed from our sins and one day we will be resurrected. I am so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He has paid the price of our sins; he has fulfilled the demands of Justice. Through His mercy, all He asks of us is that we Believe in Him, repent of our sins and make covenants. It is a straightforward request, one that everyone can complete.

Believe in Christ and Repent always!

Hope

Hey Everyone!

Today I was studying about HOPE. It is a word we use often... for example “I hope we make it on time" or” I hope mom made something good for dinner", or "I hope it doesn´t rain today". However, when we talk of the Hope that Christ offers it is infinitely more than a passing daily wish. Hope is a firm trust that God will grant us the blessings that He has promised. My greatest Hope is that I will gain eternal life. For me eternal life means that I will be with my family forever, I will continue to progress with them and will have the opportunity to reach my divine potential. I know that God loves us, the greatest gift he has to offer is eternal life and He has prepared the way for us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. While we are here on Earth, we must have faith in Christ, repent of our mistakes, keep the commandments and make covenants with God. If we do this, we will have the firm Hope of eternal life. Hope truly is "an anchor of the soul" (Hebrews 6:19), it is what keeps our vision set in the eternities.

So many of the people I come in contact with on a daily basis are extremely stressed about the trials of today. They are discouraged with today and worry about what tomorrow will bring. I have learned, that when we look at life’s challenges, with the perspective of the eternities, we realize that the tough moments help us progress and that if we are willing to keep the commandments... daily happiness is within our reach.

Have faith! Pray Always! Count your Blessings!

Faith through Trials

I heard a quote this week that I absolutely loved. A bother in the ward said. "Straying away from the Church while you are passing through a trial is like leaving your house when it is pouring rain. It just isn´t logical" The simplicity of the statement is what hit me. No one ever said that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is an easy path to follow. In fact many find that being a true Christian means that we carry the burdens of others.  I am so grateful for the sure foundation that the Gospel gives me. When we follow Christ, He doesn´t take away our trials, rather He gives us the method to overcome our trials. All challenges are opportunities to learn and to progress. I invite those of you who are passing through trials to find shelter in the Gospel. Don´t let the downpour of difficulties distract from the Hope we find in Christ. I love this work. It is such a joy to share my beliefs with the people here in Peru, to offer them the path to happiness the Christ has shown us. I am amazed by the love that Heavenly Father showed when He sent His Son to the Earth to atone for each of us. I know Christ lives, He is our Savior. His Atonement has the power to change our hearts, our lives, and our perspective. I have felt that power in my own heart. I am so grateful for the eternal perspective that I have cultivated, because when trials come I can see that it is just a small moment, I find strength from Christ to pass through the downpours and then He helps me to learn from each difficulty.
Pray Always, Trust in the Lord, and Just Be YOU!

PERU!!!

Moved to Cajamarca

Hey Everyone!
Wow! After nearly six months in Lambayeque it was tough to hug everyone goodbye and head off to a new area. I love the people there so much and am excited for the day when I can go back to visit. I am looking forward to serving here in Cajamarca. It is a very different area than Chiclayo, but I am excited to get to know the people here and offer them the joy of the Gospel. Already this week Hermana Bazalar and I have had some wonderful experiences as we have stopped to talk with people in the streets. I love how prone people are to talk about spiritual things. I know that all over the world there are people searching for real happiness, and I feel so blessed to be able to share the hope and happiness of the Gospel with God´s children here. This week a missionary from a different religion stopped us in the street to share a message. I was impressed by the urgency with which she shared about the need to repent. The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly and urgent message. We should do all we can to share it with the world. God loves all of his children and wants us to return to His presence. Only through repentance and covenants  is that possible. I love the clarity of the path of Jesus Christ and I encourage all of you to take the next step necessary to come unto Christ.

Con Amor,
