This week was great! I am feeling much better and we have organized the area. My favorite moment this week was one of the lessons with Hermanita Maricarmen. She is thirteen years old and so sweet. A few weeks ago a member sent us out to "los campos" to find Maricarmen and her family. We found them and fell in love with them immediately. She and her two younger siblings havent had much schooling, but they love to learn. About two years ago their mother passed away tragically and left the three young kids with their aunt. These children are incredible. They are so loving and desire so much to follow Christ. The first Sunday when we passed by with a member to pick them up for church... Maricarmen and her little brother Edu were all ready to go... Edu was so excited to come that he didnt finish his breakfast. After church Maricarmen mentioned how loved she felt there. The other teens had been so patient in helping her read and understand the classes. During the next lesson with her, we taught the Plan of Salvation. When we explained that families can be forever, her eyes lit up. When we taught that those who have died can receive Baptism vicariously in the temple...she literally gasped with excitement. She asked a number of times how it worked, just to be sure. It truly is an astounding doctrine, a beautiful truth that links families for the eternities. I know that those who have passed away, are in the Spirit World, awaiting the time of the Resurrection. Those who have followed the Gospel of Jesus Christ are in a state of happiness. Those who haven´t followed the Lord have, through the mercy of God, one last chance to repent and we, here on the earth, can help those people to receive Baptism for the remission of their sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost. God loves all of His children. Everyone will have the opportunity to hear His Gospel and accept His plan. For now, there is still time. We must do all we can to bring others unto Christ. He is the Light, the pathway to eternal life. Believe in Him. If we open our hearts, we too will be astounded by the beautiful truths of this Gospel.

Cajamarca

Such a crazy week. We are still trying to organize our gigantic area so that we can visit everyone, it´s tough... but not impossible. We were having a great week, and seeing lots of progress... until I got sick and we had to take an afternoon to recuperate. In those hours I had some time to meditate..to really feel my faith grow and to envision what this area can become. It was invigorating. Hermana Bazalar and I are putting into practice lots of new ideas. as they say.. If you want to see something new..do something different. I know that this the God´s work. His plans and His vision are so much grander than our own. When we trust in Him and ask Him to show us His plan.. our eyes will be opened. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve here in Cajamarca. I love watching the progress of the people. Without a doubt, we are changing people. There is no such thing as a stagnant personality... on a daily basis we either digress or progress. The choice is ours.

 Be wise. Follow the Lord.

TRUST in the Lord

Hey Everyone!
This week was wonderful! We had an activity with all the teens in the ward. Lots of them came to do divisions. These youth are fantastic. The majority of them are the only members in their homes; however their testimonies are so sincere. They have a deep excitement to share the Gospel with their friends and family. In lessons they teach doctrines and share personal experiences. They aren´t waiting to be called on a mission to serve the Lord, they are spreading the gospel to everyone now. What inspiring youth! As I was filled with their enthusiasm I couldn’t help but think of the scripture that says "Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in spirit, in faith, in purity." (1Timothy 4;12)Those teens and many others follow this creed. They are examples, lights to their friends and family, little pillars of happiness that hold up so many other people who otherwise would be blinded by the injustices of the world. They have found happiness because they TRUST in the Lord and keep his commandments. I love the words of Alma to his son in the Book of Mormon when he says "O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth, yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God." (Alma37;35) I know that if we keep the Commandments of God we will have lasting happiness throughout life. Nothing compares with the satisfaction that we feel when we obey God´s command.

Trust in the Lord! He loves you!

The Priesthood Restored

This week was wonderful!! So many people who haven´t been coming to church.. CAME!!  Also,we had two intercambios this week. One day I got to go to the area of Chontapaccha with Hermana Gonzales...and another day we did divisions and I was with Hermana Tupe. It is always so fun to learn something new from every missionary and in every area. It is so invigorating to see this message touch the lives of all types of people in every variety of situation.
Also this week we had a number of lessons on the Priesthood. It is so fun to teach about the Priesthood along with the Restoration of the Gospel. I love the pictures in the pamphlets.. first the picture of Christ ordaining his Apsotles with the Priesthood.  Then there comes the picture of Peter,James and John conferring the Priesthood on Joseph Smith. It gives such a clear picture of the order in which God works. I know that the prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, has the Priesthood of God. The Prophet and apostles hold the same power that the original twelve apostles had. We are so blessed to be led by a living prophet who receives instruction and guidance direct from Heaven. I am so grateful for his loving guidance. I know that He has the power of the Priesthood, and I am so grateful for the many worthy priesthood holders who have blessed my life. I know that the covenants that I have made have been sealed with the Priesthood of God, so I know that they are promises approved and recognized in the heavens. I am so grateful for those promises. I know that the Priesthood is the Power of God to act in His name, what a divine gift!
