Hark all ye Nations

There are now six missionaries in the ward and the members’ excitement to do the work of the Lord is increasing. On Sunday there was a combined third hour class and Bishop Diaz started off the brainstorming process on how the ward can hasten the work here in Cajamarca. All sorts of ideas popped up... everything from giving away Liahonas to singing hymns in the main plaza. It was so wonderful to watch the members receive revelation on how they can spread the Gospel. And to finish up the meeting the Bishop asked us six missionaries to sing the first two verses of  "Hark all ye Nations" then the rest of the class joined in on the third verse. The powerful message of the hymn touched the hearts of many and the Spirit of the Lord´s work filled the room. Even the monk, who occasionally visits with the elders, was moved to tears, and many members volunteered to accompany us... the work of the Lord is rolling forth here in Cajamarca!

And my favorite lesson of the week was with an investigator who often struggles with discouragement and negative thought patterns. She told us that when she starts to take a leap of faith, something always tells her that she won´t make it. We explained that negative thoughts are one of the devil´s subtle tools to stop our progression. Later we decided to read Ephesians 6:11-17 about the armor of God. She loved the imagery of the shield of faith and the sword of the word of God. She loves reading and we were able to help her understand that she has a firm grip on that sword. I pray, when those negative thoughts began to creep in, that she stands at the ready, wielding her sword, strengthened by her daily study of the scriptures.

Perhaps we aren´t called upon to fight battles of flesh and blood; however, I testify that the battle against the power of Satan is very real. We must be prepared. We must have on the whole armor of God; our shield of faith thickened by experience and our sword sharpened by study. Then we must plant our feet firmly on the Rock of Salvation and fervently pray for the guidance of our Eternal Captain.

Don´t let your armor get rusty.
Pray Always. Study the Scriptures. Trust in the Lord.

Con Amor,

Hermana Kimball
